Principle of operation
As the name of the technology implies, quick removal of stains is achieved through the circulation of bubbles. Air bubbles that are in the water constantly pass through the laundry, affecting contaminated areas together with washing powder or liquid detergent.
This effect is similar to boiling, only boiling water spoils and significantly wears out the fabric, weakening its fibers.
Automatic machines
The main element of the machine is a tank into which water is poured and laundry is placed. Inside it is a stainless steel drum that produces rotational movements. Water is supplied to the machine through the filling hole. Along the way, it washes off the powder from a special tray and enters the tank.
In air bubble machines, after the water has entered the detergent tray, it goes down into the bubble generator located under the drum. There, water and detergent are mixed with air and fed into the drum through small holes in the form of cleaning solution, foam and air bubbles.
The bubbles penetrate the fabric, removing dirt and tackling even stubborn stains. Also, during washing, the bubbles burst, releasing heat, which creates a boiling effect. Washing is carried out in warm and cold water.
Activator machines
The main difference between these machines is vertical loading. At the very bottom of the drum there is a pulsator designed to create vortex flows of water. It creates ideal jets for washing.
Separate from the activator there is a nozzle that supplies bubbles into the drum. Air bubbles are evenly distributed throughout the drum by the activator.
Working principle of air bubble washing machine
What happens when the bubble masses come into contact with soiled clothing? By bursting, the bubbles send energy impulses to places of contamination, ensuring better removal of dirt.
This mechanical action also increases foaming, which reduces the required detergent consumption.
In Samsung machines, bubble technology is designated Eco Bubble , where the word Eco indicates resource savings: the method allows you to cope with stubborn stains without the need for large amounts of powder and bleach. Bubbles also have protective properties, preventing excess friction between layers of fabric, which can cause poorly colored items to fade and fade.

Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of washing machine models with an available air-bubble washing mode are:
- Significant energy savings.
- Saving detergents due to abundant foam formation.
- High degree of stain removal, boiling effect.
- Reduced washing time. At the same time, the result remains the same as with long programs of washing machines that are not equipped with an air bubble system.
- Washing clothes becomes delicate thanks to the bubble pillow. It reduces the friction of the laundry against the walls of the drum and against each other.
- Things are the same size after washing and do not shrink.
- In activator type machines you can add and remove laundry during washing. You can also stop washing at any time.
- The machine with the activator does not need to be connected to a water supply; just pour water into the tank.
- Low noise level.
Flaws:
- High requirements for water hardness. It should be as soft as possible.
- Activator-type machines may not have a laundry spin mode or a drain function without spinning.
- The cost of air bubble machines is higher than that of regular machines.
- The dimensions of the machines are slightly larger than those of simple activator machines and drum-type machines.

Pros and cons of technology
The new washing system has several undeniable advantages:
- preservation of the texture and quality of clothing, thanks to washing at low temperatures;
- cleaning efficiency due to an effect similar to boiling;
- economical due to the absence of heating and reduced powder consumption;
- reduced washing time, bubbles effectively remove stains, eliminating the need for pre-soaking.
And activator-type washing machines have two more advantages:
- you can start the cycle without connecting to the water supply, you just need to fill the tank with water;
- It is permissible to add laundry while the appliance is operating.
Disadvantages of air bubble products:
- Such a machine will require a lot of space. Unfortunately, it is not possible to implement the technology without increasing the dimensions of the product. Therefore, devices with the Eco Bubble function are much larger than standard machines.
- The need to use softeners. Bubbles can only form in soft water. Therefore, it is necessary to use additional means so that the process of bubble formation is not disrupted. Softeners are required in almost every case, since the water from the pipeline is usually hard.
- High price. Automatic machines are an order of magnitude more expensive than standard devices.
- Activator-type models often lack the ability to automatically drain water after a cycle. The functionality often does not include spinning, so it will not be possible to rid the laundry of excess moisture.
How to choose?
There are many models of bubble machines available on the market. In order to make a choice, you need to decide the following questions for yourself:
- What type of car do you need? Automatic machines are more expensive than activator-type machines; they also take up more space and require a connection to a water supply.
- Dimensions of the machine.
- What is the maximum load required?
- Do you need a spin? If necessary, what should be its maximum speed.
- What should be the method of loading things (horizontal or vertical).
- Required energy saving class in washing and spinning modes.
- Does the manufacturer matter?
- Washing machine price category.
What is bubble washing?
Air bubble washing technology uses air along with water. The system is a special mechanism. It is attached to the bottom of the washing machine drum. The mechanism works according to the following scheme:
- When you start the washing machine, the powder is washed out of the powder receptacle with water.
- Thanks to the foam generator, it dissolves with water.
- The resulting powder foam enters the drum.
- Air begins to be produced inside the air bubble mechanism.
- It is fed into the washing machine drum through holes.
- The resulting air bubbles begin to interact with the powdered foam and clothing. Thanks to them, the process of removing contaminants from laundry is improved.
Air bubbles touching stains on clothing burst and release impulse energy. Thanks to its release, contaminants dissolve much faster and better compared to regular washing. The effect of the process is similar to boiling laundry. But with bubble washing, clothes do not experience the negative effects of hot water. This technology has a gentle effect on linen. It does not wear out and retains its shape and color.
The bubble washing process also releases oxygen. Its interaction with hydrogen ions promotes the formation of radicals that have a sterilizing effect.

For the last 15–20 years I’ve been using a regular little activator, but a couple of years ago it broke and they couldn’t repair it. The children brought a similar-looking machine, but they said that it had a thing in it that released air bubbles inside. This should make it wash even better. I wash it every weekend and I don’t know if these bubbles really affect something, but the clothes are always clean, everything washes well.

I have been using a Daewoo bubble machine for 5 years now, I bought it to replace my old one. It leaked once, but it was my fault - I put it on an uneven surface, and the drain hose unscrewed during the spin cycle. I really like the fact that you can throw the item in when the wash has already started. For example, you forgot to put on a sock or a child’s undershirt. You can fill the machine with bleach, conditioner and powder. Over the entire period of use, it has proven itself to be excellent, I recommend it!

We've been using a Samsung machine for six months, everything seems to be fine, except for two things. When spinning, the car is ready to take off, it shakes very much. No matter how I install the legs, nothing changes. Second, the wash delay time is incorrect. Starts working earlier. Through trial and error, it turned out that for some reason the machine also adds washing time to the delay time. There are no complaints about the rest - it washes perfectly, even washes children’s clothes.

We bought an Eco Bubble machine a year ago. They took a fancy one for more than 30,000 rubles. As a result, I wash LG, which is in the kitchen and is much cheaper. I don't like the noise when spinning. Sometimes after rinsing without spinning, foam remains on things.

I've been wanting a Samsung Eco Bubble for a long time. We bought it six months ago. I can't get enough of her! Removes all stains and saves a lot of electricity, especially if you wash after 12 at night or on weekends. I don’t know who makes noise during the spin cycle, we don’t hear anything. If you close both doors (to the room and the bathroom) there is general silence - the child sleeps peacefully. There is also no foam or streaks on things. I like the drum and the large load.

Creepy car. I wanted to wash the bed linen, but I pulled it out with huge dry spots that had not been washed. They called a specialist and did a calibration. As a result, I received the same thing the second time. The rest of the items are not washed; stains remain on them. Even just foundation or food on children's things. Several times things were thrown onto the rubber band of the drum against the glass and remained dirty. There are no complaints regarding noise and remaining powder. I like the design, the drum, the savings on electricity, but unwashed stains spoil the whole impression.

Types of air bubble washing machines
Now let's move directly to washing units that use this technology. Below is information about what types of them exist, on what principle they work, and how they differ from each other.
Washing machines with this function come in two types:
- automatic machines;
- activator type machines.
Next, we will tell you how these washing machines work and how the technology works in each of them.
Automatic machines
The main elements are a tank with holes and a generator, which is located under it. First, water enters the washing machine through the filling hole. Before entering the tank, it washes the detergent out of the cuvette, after which it moves to the generator.
During the generation process, a powder solution is obtained from air bubbles and foam, which, through holes, enters the drum.
The technology allows you to effectively get rid of even dried dirt and stains.
Activator type machines
Activator machines are devices with vertical loading of laundry. A special feature of the device with an activator is the absence of a heating element. That is, it is connected separately to cold and hot water.
The machine has a pulsator, which is located at the very bottom of the drum. It is responsible for the formation of water flows in the form of jets and turbulence. A special nozzle supplies bubbles to the activator, which promotes their uniform distribution.
Portions of soap bubbles come from the generator continuously during the entire cycle. Thus, dirt is removed from things much faster.
Failed Models
- Models from EVGO and Magna have been discontinued and are no longer sold.
- Samsung WF 6 RF4E2 W0W . Drum type machine. Cost from 21,000 to 28,000 rubles.
- Samsung WF 60 F4E0 W2W. Drum type washing machine. Price 25,000 rubles.
- Samsung WW 80 H7410 EW . Drum type washing machine. Reviews about this model are mixed. There are many positive and negative opinions. Cost from 50,000 to 67,000 rubles.
Washing machines with air bubble technology make washing any item much easier. Air bubbles form a soft foam-bubble cushion, which prevents the drum and other clothing from mechanically affecting delicate fabrics.
You can wash even the most capricious fabrics in them - wool and silk. Each model is wonderful in its own way, and people’s dissatisfaction is associated with the noise during the spin cycle, which happens with any machine or with defects in the product.
What are they?
There are only two types of washing machines with air bubble washing: automatic and activator.
Automatic
This is a classic, familiar machine with a round door. Before washing, clothes are placed in the drum, and powder or any other detergent for clothes is poured into a special hole. When the washing process starts, the water washes out the powder and flows with it into the drum, and from there into the bubble generator. There it interacts with the air and rises again, this time in combination with bubbles and powder.
The resulting bubbles begin to come into contact with the fabric, penetrating its fibers and destroying dirt, stains and odors. When they burst, they produce heat, so many experts compare this effect with boiling and boiling laundry. It’s just that after classic boiling, the fabric can become unusable, but after bubble boiling – never.
