A modern electric heater using Mica-thermic technology does not dry out the air in the room and saves energy by 30-50%!

Recently, the micathermic heater has become increasingly recognized in the heating equipment market. This is a modern innovative electric heater, and not everyone knows about its significant advantages and differences from traditional electric analogs. This article is intended to give an overview of the new product, which certainly deserves attention due to its beneficial consumer qualities.

Pros and cons of micathermic heaters

I would immediately like to understand the advantages and disadvantages of this type of heating equipment in order to understand whether such a device should be considered as a heat source for a home, office or other premises.

Advantages of the new product:

  • Comfortable indoor microclimate.
Everyone knows how a regular oil radiator dries out the air and smells of burnt air. In contrast, the Micathermic heater is an infrared heating device, and with infrared heating the air is not dried out and the oxygen content is not reduced. Therefore, this type of heating is especially recommended for children, asthmatics, frequently ill people and, in general, for those who care about comfortable breathing in a heated room.
  • Economical.
The new product consumes 30% less electricity than traditional oil or electric radiators. The efficiency factor (i.e., efficiency) of micathermic analogues is more than 85%-90%, which allows you to heat a larger room with less energy consumption.
  • Fast heating.
On average, the device reaches operating temperature in 1 minute, almost immediately starting to emit heat.
  • Safety.
The outer casing does not heat up to temperatures above 60⁰, which makes the device safe for children and pets. There is often built-in overheating and tip-over protection.
  • Ease of use.
Many models have 2 heating modes, a thermostat for adjusting the temperature, additional functions such as a timer or “Anti-Frost” (protecting the room from freezing). Some models are equipped with a remote control.
  • Mobility.
Light weight and wheels make it easy to move inside and between rooms.
  • Silence.
The absence of noise allows the device to be used in bedrooms, children's rooms and offices.
  • Affordability.

Despite such significant advantages, some disadvantages

:

  • The heater primarily releases heat to the surrounding space. The further you are from the device, the cooler the air will be. However, convection helps distribute heat throughout the room more evenly.
  • The price of models with additional functions or with remote control will be higher than similar standard devices.
  • It is possible that when you turn on the device for the first time after a long period of inactivity, you will notice the smell of burning dust particles that have settled while the product was not working. However, during further operation there will be no odors in the air.
  • The body temperature of 60˚ makes it impossible to burn a person. But you need to avoid getting synthetic things on the device (for example, tulle, flammable objects made of plastic or film). Do not use the electric heater to dry clothes, towels, linen, shoes, etc.

We are confident that if you follow the manufacturers' recommendations for installation and proper operation, Mica-thermic will delight you for a long time with warmth, comfortable indoor air and reduced heating costs.

Advantages and disadvantages of micathermic heaters

Pros and cons are almost the main questions that arise for users when devices created using new technologies go on sale.

This information is of course important and deserves attention and a more detailed description. So, what are the advantages of micathermic, which the heating equipment market offers us:

  1. Creating a favorable, comfortable microclimate in the house. The device does not dry out the air and does not smell of burning.
  2. Economical. Micathermic heater b, like any other series, consumes approximately 30% less energy than conventional oil-based heaters. At the same time, the efficiency is higher.
  3. Heating rate. It heats up very quickly. It will take a few minutes for one room. The device begins to give off heat from the first seconds.
  4. Safety. What are the safety advantages of a micathermic heating element? Its plates emitting infrared rays do not overheat. Therefore, no one can get burned by them. The device is equipped with special protection against accidental overturning and overheating.
  5. Mobility. A tubular micathermic heater or plate heater is a compact, lightweight device that can be easily moved from one room to another.
  6. Simplicity and ease of use. The devices can operate in 2 modes. Equipped with special thermostats. This allows you to manually adjust the temperature. The “Anti-Frost” option will prevent the room from freezing if its owners leave for a long time. Many models have a remote control function.
  7. Cost price. Every average family can buy a heater. 3000 rubles cannot be called a large amount.

The heater also has disadvantages:

  1. Air heating occurs according to the following principle - the closer the air is to the source of the device, the more the air masses warm up. Convection can eliminate this problem. This way the room will warm up evenly.
  2. The price of the device is higher than usual, especially if the model is equipped with additional features, is controlled by a remote control, and has the “Anti-Frost” option.
  3. When connecting to the power supply for the first time, there may be a burning smell - this is due to dust particles accidentally falling on the heating element burning out. It will disappear with further use.
  4. The heating temperature of the case is not critical for humans (600C), but if plastic or tulle gets on it, there is a risk of melting.

As we see, there are much fewer disadvantages and they are not so critical. When used correctly, the device does not pose any danger to adults, children, or pets.

You cannot dry clothes, shoes, towels or other household items on the cabinet.

The operating principle of a modern heating device is the conversion of electrical energy into heat. Micathermic models, what are they and how do they differ from traditional ones. These are more advanced heaters that consume less electricity and produce more heat faster.

The device of a micathermic infrared heater

Having become acquainted with the advantages and disadvantages of the new product, we will now understand in more detail what a micathermic heater is and what are its main features. The Micathermic technology itself, which underlies this type of thermal technology, is far from new and has been successfully used in medicine and space technology for many years.

The heating source here is multilayer plates, each layer of which is covered with mica. Mica has excellent thermal and electrical insulating properties. Therefore, when the plates emit heat, they themselves do not heat up, so it is impossible to get burned if you accidentally touch them. The temperature of the outer casing with such thermal wave heating does not heat up higher than 60⁰, which is absolutely safe for use even in children's institutions.

In floor-standing models, heating is double-sided: heat is evenly distributed in both directions. Wall-mounted devices, due to the built-in thermal insulation layer, give off heat only in one direction (heating the room, but not heating the wall on which they are mounted).

Structurally, the device consists of the following parts:

  1. Housing with heating panels inside and protective grille outside
  2. Control panel and/or indicator board
  3. On/off buttons
  4. Power regulator or buttons for setting temperature conditions
  5. Thermostat for temperature control (not available on all models)
  6. Wheels for moving
  7. Remote control (optional).

What is a micathermic heater?

These devices can be considered a novelty on the heater market. They appeared thanks to developments in space technology. The basis of the micathermic device is an innovative heating element. Its peculiarity is the use of mica, which is why such equipment is also called mica equipment.

Today, there are two varieties of such a heating element, respectively, and two types of heaters.

The micathermic heater uses an innovative heating element with synthetic mica. This allows you to significantly increase the efficiency of the device

Initially, the device was a nickel heating plate covered on both sides with layers of mica. The latter performed two functions at once: they insulated the heating element and transferred heat.

To increase the efficiency of the device, additional ones made of a special alloy were subsequently added to the main heating element. Thus, second-generation devices have a multilayer design.

In them, internal and external additional layers are placed between mica plates and a nickel heating element. The function of the first is heat reflection. Thanks to this, the most complete release of infrared spectrum radiation into the surrounding space is achieved.

The second layer provides increased thermal flow. The result is a more efficient heating element.

Arguments in favor of mica element heaters

High speed of reaching operating temperature

Environment-friendly temperature range

The operating principle of the device is very simple. When the device is turned on, the nickel plate begins to heat up. It transfers heat to mica plates.

The latter, in turn, evenly distribute the energy and transmit it in the form of infrared radiation to all nearby objects that begin to heat up. The process goes very quickly. After turning on the device, the effect of its operation begins to be felt within a few minutes.

The peculiarity of mycatemic heaters is that they transmit most of the thermal energy, about 80% of the generated, in the form of infrared radiation. The remaining 20% comes from heating the air around the device.

The latter value is quite small, so mica heaters can be safely classified as devices operating via infrared radiation.

The latest generation of micathermic heaters are distinguished by a multilayer heating element. Additional layers located in front of the mica enhance the reflection of infrared rays and distribute them extremely evenly

Principle of operation

Having understood the structure of the device, now let’s figure out how it works. 80% of the action of a micathermic heater is based on the radiation of infrared heat (the same way the sun heats the Earth). The walls, furniture and objects around are the first to heat up. Next, the heated objects give off their heat to the air. The share of convection heating, i.e. heating the air directly and mixing the air masses is about 20%. By combining two heating methods (IR + convection), very high efficiency of the device is achieved.

Operating principle of micathermic heaters

A distinctive feature of mica heaters is precisely the principle of their operation. Most heating equipment (various fans, convection devices, oil batteries) heats the air, which passes through special plates or spirals. After this, warm air masses mix with cold ones, as a result of which the entire area of the room warms up. It is quite obvious that the implementation of this technology requires quite a lot of time.

In contrast, micathermic heaters release almost all their energy through radiation (about 80 percent, according to research). Simply put, thermal energy is transferred predominantly to surfaces and objects in the room, while no more than 20 percent is spent on heating the air. The creators of the equipment claim that thanks to this percentage, houses are heated more efficiently, and precious oxygen is not burned.

Note! The dry air created by most modern heaters causes irritation of the respiratory system and exacerbation of bronchitis and asthma in winter. But the device we are describing does not have this drawback, so it can also be installed in children's rooms.

According to statistics, a micathermic device designed for an area of 30 square meters will consume approximately 1.5 kilowatts, which, when compared with traditional or oil heaters, is quite small.
